JOB DESCRIPTIONS


 

Administrator/Environmental Programs

This individual develops and maintains environmental policies, procedures and training and provides consultation on environmental protection activities including air quality permits, site and facility plans, waste management and environmental clearances for construction projects.

 

Analyst/Gas Control

This individual coordinates the Paiute Pipeline data repository which contains pipeline operating related data.  Analyzes data quality issues and affect any needed modifications.  Provides support for SCADA and pipeline simulation software systems used by Gas Control.

 

Analyst/Revenue Requirements

This individual assists and supports others in the preparation of cost of service components utilized in various regulatory filings, including general rate cases and certificate applications; assists in the preparation of periodic financial analyses and special studies related to cost of service issues.

 

Analyst I/Federal Regulatory Affairs

This individual has the responsibility of assisting in coordinating Paiute's ongoing activities with federal regulatory commissions and administrative agencies.

 

Director/Accounting

This individual is responsible for gas and regulatory accounting (including billing function for Paiute Pipeline shippers), corporate policy and procedures, customer accounts processing, accounts payable and payroll functions.

 

Director/Engineering Staff

This individual is responsible for overall direction and management of Engineering Staff; providing technical direction and support to the operating areas; and direct support for pipeline safety code compliance, gas system design standards, material specifications, environmental programs, cathodic protection, natural gas measurement, pressure control and engineer training.  

 

Director/Engineering & Project Support Staff

 This individual is responsible for overall direction and management of Engineering and Project Support Staff; providing technical direction and support to the operating areas; and direct support for gas system planning; electronic mapping, rights-of-way, transmission pipeline integrity and product evaluation.

 

Director/Gas Operations

This individual directs the development of budgets, projects, plans, strategies and goals for Paiute Pipeline Operations.  Directs the activities related to plant and pipeline operations and maintenance, reliability and the safe operation of transmission assets in all areas.  Oversees compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations associated with these assets.

 

Director/Gas Supply

This individual is responsible for the overall direction and management of all Southwest Gas Corporation gas purchase contracts, gas transportation agreements, and other related agreements.  This individual also is responsible for the Company’s gas dispatching and scheduling activities, LDC gas control, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) operations, and their associated hardware/software systems.

 

Director/Pricing and Tariffs

This individual is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Pricing and Tariffs Department providing technical direction and support in the preparation of regulatory filings for submittal to the Company’s state and federal regulatory commissions.  The department is responsible for the presentation of the filings to the commissions and any related compliance.  The department monitors state and federal regulatory issues and also is responsible for ensuring that the proper LDC and Paiute rates are billed each month.

 

Director/Revenue Requirements

This individual is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Revenue Requirements Department providing technical direction and support in the development of cost of service components utilized in various regulatory filings, including state and federal general rate cases and certificate applications; also prepares and directs the completion of periodic financial analyses and special studies related to cost of service issues.

 

Director/Systems Planning

This individual is responsible for assuring the ability of the systems to meet the needs of all jurisdictional customers in the most economical fashion.  The objectives are met by overseeing and directing the activities of three specialized departments that provide demand/service projections, major facilities evaluations, and other upstream resource studies.

 

Distribution Engineer

This individual is responsible for data analysis of transmission system facilities including pipelines and other natural gas facilities necessary for system integrity; for data integration and calculations; and integrity program documentation.

 

Engineer/Operations

This individual is responsible for the completion of assigned analyses, designs or project management projects.  Provides design engineering expertise in the design of facilities and the analysis and resolution of technical issues.  Performs project management for capital projects including coordination of planning, permitting, design and construction.

 

Gas Control Technician

This individual is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the system integrity of the gas system while ensuring the delivery of natural gas within current Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (MAOP) limits. This is accomplished by using the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to control and monitor high-pressure transmission pipelines including, where applicable, compressor stations, measurement and control facilities, pipeline interconnects and peak shaving facilities.

 

Gas Scheduling Technician

This individual performs daily scheduling processing activities. Position must meet federally mandated deadlines daily and respond to customer calls, coordinating the collection of information and operation of the pipeline with gas control. Prepares volume data statements required to render invoices to customers.

 

Manager/Accounting

This individual is responsible for the accounting for and reporting of payroll, gas purchases, upstream transportation costs and deferred purchased gas transactions, in addition to other regulatory assets and liabilities.

 

Manager/Central Gas Dispatch

This individual manages all activities related to the corporation’s nomination, scheduling areas and corporate gas control. Oversees the administration of automated scheduling system and preparation of volume data required to render invoices. Ensures tariff compliance for all scheduling activities.

 

Manager/Engineering/Operations

This individual manages the activities of the Engineering, Construction, Technical Services, and Compressor Stations staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations.  Manages the support activities related to the design of pipeline facilities; activities related to measurement services in the areas of gas measurement accuracy, gas quality, gas analysis, and meter/pressure regulating station integrity; activities related to corrosion and pipeline integrity; activities related to the construction and installation of pipeline facilities; and the operations and maintenance activities associated with compressor station facilities.

 

Manager/Engineering Planning/Systems Planning

This individual directs project management services so that major transmission projects can be rationalized and built expeditiously within reasonable cost limits.  Directs others who create transmission system models and perform computer simulations, to test or design facilities such as pipelines, compressor stations, liquefied natural gas facilities, regulator stations and metering facilities.

 

Manager/Engineering Staff

This individual supports the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards, material specifications and training for engineering design, natural gas measurement, pressure control, cathodic protection and environmental compliance. This individual is also supports the selection of material suppliers, major construction project review and environmental protection activities.

 

Manager/Engineering Staff/Engineering & Project Support Staff

This individual is responsible for supporting the utilization of the STONER network analysis software utilized in system planning functions; supervising and coordinating transmission integrity programs; acquiring permits and rights-of-way for transmission projects; review of material failure analysis; and integrating projects and data for analysis of the transmission systems. 

 

Manager/Engineering Staff/Compliance

This individual is responsible for overall direction and management of pipeline safety code compliance; reviews and ensures that necessary revisions to company standards, policies and procedures meet regulatory requirements and are properly implemented; provides technical direction and support to the operating areas regarding compliance issues; coordinates and provides corporate representation at internal and external compliance audits.

 

Manager/Pricing and Tariffs

This individual manages all activities relates to the preparation of regulatory filings for submittal to the Company’s state and federal regulatory commissions and any related compliance.  The individual is responsible for monitoring regulatory issues and ensuring the accuracy of rate and tariff information disseminated by the department.

 

Senior Analyst/Programmer

This individual is responsible for the development and support of applications that automate processes related to Paiute Pipeline Scheduling and Billing System. Duties include working directly with users to design, implement, customize, maintain, train and document applications.  This individual also performs analysis, evaluation of performance and design activities related to the planning, construction, modification and operation of WWW.PAIUTEPIPELINE.COM. Provides internal and external web related support functions.

 

Senior Corporate Accountant

This individual is responsible for gas and regulatory accounting activities in addition to billing of Paiute Pipeline shippers and specialized customers.

 

Senior Manager/Federal Regulatory Affairs

This individual directs and coordinates ongoing activities with federal regulatory commissions and administrative agencies. The individual performs a similar function for Southwest Gas Corporation, except as to those matters that involve the Paiute transmission system. In addition, this individual is involved in the administration of services to customers of Paiute and the development of policy and strategy recommendations relating to future services to be provided by Paiute.

 

Senior Systems Planning Engineer/Systems Planning

This individual, at a Senior level, provides conceptual design of pipeline improvements, compressor stations, regulator stations, and metering facilities.  The incumbent also develops system models and performs computer simulations, to test or design facilities.

 

Senior Specialist/ Pricing and Tariffs

This individual, at a senior level, is responsible for the preparation of regulatory filings for submittal to the Company’s state and federal regulatory commissions.  The individual is also responsible for ensuring that the proper LDC and Paiute rates are billed each month.

 

Senior Specialist/Revenue Requirements

This individual, at a senior level, is responsible for the preparation of certain cost of service components utilized in various regulatory filings, including general rate cases and certificate applications; also prepares periodic financil analyses and special studies related to cost of service issues.

 

Senior Systems Planning Engineer/Engineering Staff

This individual is responsible for supporting the utilization of the STONER network analysis software utilized in system planning functions; analyzing data from various systems for pipeline integrity; and interfacing data systems for transmission analysis. 

 

Senior Vice President/Regulatory Affairs & Energy Resources

This individual is responsible for directing and coordinating: 1) all activities relating to  regulatory and administrative agencies, commissions, and consumer advocates; and 2) the identification, justification, and procurement of the optimal combination of natural gas distribution, transmission, and supply resources necessary to serve the company’s customer demands.

 

Specialist/Engineering Staff/Compliance

This individual monitors internal operations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal/state regulations; prepares and submits annual reports to regulatory agencies; provides liaison to other departments on the Drug and Alcohol program; conducts internal compliance audits of code related activities; provides corporate representation during external federal and state audits.

 

Specialist/Pricing and Tariffs

This individual assists in the preparation of various regulatory filings, including general rate cases and certificate applications; assists in preparations of periodic analysis and special studies related to rate and tariff issues.

 

Specialist/Revenue Requirements

This individual assists in the preparation of cost of service components utilized in various regulatory filings, including general rate cases and certificate applications; assists in the preparation of periodic financial analyses and special studies related to cost of service issues.

 

Superintendent/LNG Plant

This individual manages the activities of the Harold G. Laub LNG Facility staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations in support of capital projects and the operations and maintenance activities associated with the LNG facility.  Oversees compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations associated with the LNG facility.

 

Supervisor/Central Gas Dispatch

This individual supervises all daily activities related to the corporation’s nomination and scheduling staff. Oversee the collection and validation of the volume data required to render invoices to customers. Analyze and resolve complex issues in scheduling and respond to customer inquiries

 

Supervisor/Engineering/Construction

This individual supervises the Construction staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations in support of capital projects and the operations and maintenance activities associated with pipeline facilities.  Supervises the activities related to the construction and installation of pipeline facilities.

 

Supervisor/Engineering/Measurement & Control

This individual supervises the Measurement & Control and Corrosion Control staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations in support of capital projects and the operations and maintenance activities associated with measurement & pressure control and corrosion control facilities.  Supervises the activities related to measurement services in the areas of gas measurement accuracy, gas quality, gas analysis, and meter/pressure regulating station integrity; and activities related to corrosion and pipeline integrity.

 

Supervisor/Engineering Planning/Engineering Staff

This individual is responsible for risk assessment of transmission system facilities; evaluation of facilities to determine system integrity; and preparing engineering cost estimates, schedules and implementation of field assessments to determine piping integrity.   

 

Supervisor/Engineering Planning/Systems Planning

This individual supervises personnel involved in facility design and planning.  The incumbent is also involved in field decisions for the installation/construction of gas facilities.  Responsibilities typically include all aspects of engineering relating to design, construction, operations and maintenance of gas transmission facilities.

 

Supervisor/Engineering Staff

This individual is responsible for supporting the utilization of the STONER network analysissoftware utilized in system planning functions; analyzing data from various systems for pipeline integrity; and interfacing data systems for transmission analysis.

 

Supervisor/Engineering Staff/Compliance

This individual monitors internal operations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal/state regulations; provides liaison to other company departments on public education issues; conducts internal compliance audits of code related activities; provides corporate representation during external federal and state audits.

 

Supervisor/Gas Control

This individual supervises the gas control staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations in support of 24/7 monitoring and gas control activities of the Paiute Pipeline Company pipeline system.  Controls imbalances and maintains records of operational data.  Handles compression, peak shaving and pipelines optimization.

 

Supervisor/LNG Plant

This individual supervises the activities of the Harold G. Laub LNG Facility staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations in support of capital projects and the operations and maintenance activities associated with the LNG facility.  Supervises the activities related to the compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations associated with the LNG facility.

 

Supervisor/Measurement / Paiute

This individual supervises the Measurement & Control, Corrosion Control and Compressor Stations staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations in support of capital projects and the operations and maintenance activities associated with measurement & pressur control, corrosion control and compressor station facilities.  Supervises the activities related to measurement services in the areas of gas measurement accuracy, gas quality, gas analysis, and meter/pressure regulating station integrity; activities related to corrosion and pipeline integrity; and activities related to the operation and maintenance of compressor stations.

 

Systems Planning Engineer

This individual provides conceptual design of pipeline improvements, compressor stations, regulator stations, and metering facilities.  The incumbent also develops system models and performs computer simulations, to test or design facilities.

 

Transmission Engineer

This individual supervises the Engineering and Mapping staff for Paiute Pipeline Operations required for implementation of capital projects and provision of technical support to plant and pipeline operations.  Provides design engineering expertise in the design of facilities and the analysis and resolution of technical issues.  Performs project management for capital projects including coordination of planning, permitting, design and construction.

 

Vice President/ Controller/Chief Accounting Officer

This individual is the principal accounting officer for Southwest Gas Corporation and its subsidiaries, with responsibilities for all accounting issues as they relate to SEC reporting, regulatory reporting, and tax.

 

Vice President/Engineering

This individual is responsible for overall direction and management of the Engineering, Engineering and Project Support, and Gas Operations Support Staff Departments.  This position ensures technical competency throughout the operating divisions; ensures compliance with internal policies, procedures and standards; ensures compliance with external codes and regulations.  This position oversees the development, maintenance, and implementation of gas system design standards, operating standards, material specifications, environmental programs, pipeline security, rights-of-way, planning, electronic mapping, testing and evaluation of new materials, testing and evaluation of tools and equipment, design and evaluation of measurement and pressure control equipment and systems, training and qualification of pipeline personnel, and operational quality assurance.

 

Vice President/Gas Resources

This individual directs the negotiation and administration of all Southwest Gas Corporation gas purchase contracts and supply portfolio, gas transportation agreements, and other related agreements. In addition, this individual directs the Company’s Gas Dispatching and Scheduling activities, LDC Gas Control, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) operations, and their associated hardware/software systems.

 

Vice President/General Manager/Paiute

This individual directs the business and administrative operations of Paiute Pipeline Company and is responsible for the business, legal, and policy decisions of Paiute. This individual also functions as Director/Federal Regulatory Affairs for Southwest Gas Corporation. In that capacity, the individual is responsible for directing and coordinating all ongoing activities with federal regulatory commissions and administrative agencies for Southwest, except as to those matters that involve the Paiute transmission system.

 

Vice President/Pricing

This individual is responsible for all aspects of Southwest Gas Corporation’s Pricing and Tariffs, Revenue Requirements, and Federal Regulatory Affairs departments, and provides overall guidance, direction and oversight to those departments in terms of Company policies, goals and strategies.
