Economic Regulatory Administration
	Synonym:      ERA
	Definition:   The agency in the Department of Energy that regulates 
                      imports and exports of natural gas.
Electronic Data Interchange
	Synonym:      EDI
	Definition:   The computer exchange of data for business transactions.
                      The data is typically in predefined formats that are 
                      agreed upon by the exchanging parties or a universal 
                      standard.
Emergency Sales
	Synonym:
	Definition:   Short term sales of natural gas made to meet the 
                      emergency needs of LDCs, pipeline companies, and end 
                      users.
End Use
	Synonym:
	Definition:   The final use to which gas is put by a customer.
End User
	Synonym:
	Definition:   Any entity which is the ultimate user of natural gas.
                      An end user purchases the gas for consumption but not 
                      for resale purposes.
Energy Balancing
	Synonym:
	Definition:   The process of balancing receipt and delivery volumes 
                      (i.e., cubic feet) and energy (i.e., Btus) for the 
                      purpose of daily account balancing.
Entitlement:
	Synonym:
	Definition:   To Producers - A producer's working interest or 
                      ownership share of the reserves in a well.  This volume
                      may not equal the producer's share of the quantities 
                      produced during a specific period due to balancing 
                      between producers in the well.
		      To Shippers - A shipper's allocation of pipeline 
                      capacity during periods of curtailment.
Established Reserves
	Synonym:
	Definition:   Those reserves interpreted to exist and recoverable 
                      with current technology and under present and 
                      anticipated economic conditions.
Evergreen Clause
	Synonym:
	Definition:   A contract provision that allows the term of service 
                      underlying the contract to be extended after a primary 
                      expiration date without further agreement of the 
                      parties.
Exchange
	Synonym:
	Definition:   The title transfer of like quantities of gas between the
                      owners of the gas.  Typically, an exchange is performed
                      across noncontiguous transportation facilities.
Exchange Agreement
	Synonym:
	Definition:   An agreement between two parties which defines the terms
                      and conditions for the exchange of gas and title 
                      transfer.  Typically performed across noncontiguous 
                      transportation facilities.
Exchange Gas
	Synonym:
	Definition:   Gas delivered to a party at one location in exchange for
                      gas received from the party to another location, often 
                      in a displacement arrangement.
Extraction Plants
	Synonym:      Straddle Plants, Processing Plants
	Definition:   A plant in which products such as propane, butane, oil,
                      ethane or natural gasoline - initial components of the 
                      gas stream - are extracted or removed for sale.
